Messiah Lutheran Church

Size: 21,210 Square Feet
Budget: $1,593,000

Messiah Lutheran's congregation built many additions to the mission facility completed in early 1945. Classrooms and social facilities were added complementing a worship center built in 1958.

In the late '60s our firm provided the design for a classroom wing addition. In 1990 we were requested to complete a feasibility study to determine the spatial needs to accommodate an increasing program for an expanding congregation.

A limited site in Fairview Park distinguished specific strategies for the location of a gym and administrative offices. Though drawings were completed in 1991 and bids received that same year, the congregation was pleased to announce the dedication of the facilities on February 21, 1993.

Both building components have added to the traffic flow throughout the structure. By creating a new entrance, "a sense of place", and providing more openness in the connecting spaces facilitated interaction between youthful and elderly members of the congregation.
